Technician installing torch on waterproof membrane on a Selangor rooftop for Cisco Waterproofing

Torch On Membrane (Mineral / Sand)

This project involved the supply and installation of a high-performance torch-on bitumen waterproofing membrane over a leaking flat concrete roof slab. The objective was to eliminate persistent water pooling issues and provide a thick, long-term structural shield against rainwater ingress.

Before Installation

The exposed flat concrete roof slab was highly vulnerable to weathering. Tropical rainfall had caused consistent water ponding, forcing moisture to seep into structural hairline cracks. The building was suffering from active ceiling leaks, damp internal plaster walls, and structural concrete spalling (concrete chipping and cracking due to internal rebar rust) beneath the slab.

After Installation

Our team fully prepped the concrete surface, repaired structural cracks with polymer mortar. Then expertly flame-applied a high-durability, fiber-reinforced torch-on waterproofing membrane. We ensured all sheet overlaps were completely fused and extended the membrane up the parapet walls to form a seamless, highly flexible tanking system that entirely bars water penetration.

Key Project Outcomes

  • Superior Standing-Water Resistance: The thick bitumen layer successfully withstands long-term water ponding without degrading.
  • Structural Crack Bridging: High elasticity allows the membrane to flex with the concrete slab’s natural thermal movement without tearing.
  • Definitive Leak Elimination: Completely sealed all paths of water ingress, permanently protecting the building’s interior and concrete foundations.
